mardi gras

and to my great horror
they believed every word she said

the savage mother
her violet delights
bestowed upon her crown
fermented in sun

rats, syringes, splatters of blood
walking with tremor
legs like knives
opening tan concrete floors

deranged drunkards littering the way
red walls, crushing velvet
numbers ascending from 1 to 23

shaking hands upon heavy thighs
eager fingers
dislocated one by one
sacrificed upon her altar
holy provocateur

smell of decay, saturated smoke
stale offerings of scattered limbs
chant your name as damp clouds bellow
chant your name as sweet clouds bellow
chant your name as           clouds bellow
sacred mater
mater sacred
fermented in sun
